About Us
ETC-IS follows one basic principle: "Do it right". Do the right solution with the right Management, Staffing, Planning, and Tracking.
ETC-IS offers well defined processes that cover the full spectrum of a project with the following basic sub phases:
Requirement Analysis
Concept Definition
Concept Validation
System Design
Production and Deployment
Operation and Support
ETC-IS processes are defined in Company procedures and secured with Quality Assurance. They are the guidelines and rules common for every project.
But, each project has a different nature to deserve special attention and requires specific ways of handling. Those requirements are handled in the Management, Staffing, Planning and Tracking functions designed specially for the project within the guidelines and rules of Company Standard Procedures.
A project starts with "Planning" to answer the questions who does what and when. The first step of planning is the determination of the Work Break Down Structure (WBS) of the Project. In the WBS, with a top down approach the project is defined in terms of System, Sub-system, Module, Sub-Module, component etc. In each WBS level and item, inputs, outputs and the inner function definitions are made.
Then a matrix is composed putting the WBS functions on one axis and the Process functions as defined in Company Standard Procedures on the other axis. Each point in this matrix denotes a Project Plan Activity (PPA).
Once the PPAs are defined, then the next step is scheduling. The inputs of the scheduling task are the PPAs and the time constraints. Time constraints are basically the expectations of the Customer; ie. project targets, nature of the project and the resource availability. Scheduling is made PPAs versus time frame. Then, resource allocation is made and the process in iterated for normalisation.
The organization is made to fulfill the project's Resource Requirements. Direct and indirect resources are categorised and defined. Once the organization is made, the next step is the staffing. A mix of necessary expertise is composed to answer the requirements of the project in all phases.
Subject matter experts, operational architects, technical architects, system architects for the Analysis and Design Phase, implementation engineers such as H/W, S/W, Network, Test and Field eng. for Development and Integration Phase, engineers, technicians, operators etc. for the Field Support and Operations Phase, Technical and Administrative Managers, Office Support personnel, etc. for the Management and Support functions are allocated.
The processes is iterated enough to end up with a normalised, realistic and optimum planning.
In small-mid scale projects Tracking Functions are sub functions of Management whereas in mid-large scale projects Tracking is a separate function where the target is to keep the project under control independently.
